Sarson’s Braised Red Cabbage

Sarson's Malt Vinegar, with its craft-brewed tang, takes this braised red cabbage recipe to new levels of deliciousness. For the recipe, we combine the cabbage with Sarson's, apple, butter, and festive spices before slowly braising everything until tender, rich, and glossy. Ingredients

  • 70ml Sarson’s Malt Vinegar
  • 1 red cabbage, sliced
  • 1 sliced red onion
  • 80g soft light brown sugar
  • a large knob of butter
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 apple, grated

Method

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a heavy-bottom pan on medium heat and stir well. Put a lid on the pan and leave to braise for 1 hour or until the cabbage is tender and the liquid has become reduced and glossy.
  2. Serve with your Christmas dinner. Enjoy!
