Pan con Tomate (Grilled Bread & Tomatoes)
"Pan con Tomate" is a classic Spanish dish that involves spreading grated fresh tomatoes on toast. The tomatoes are typically seasoned with salt and pepper, and a touch of extra virgin olive oil, but we have added even more flavour to this recipe with a splash of Sarson's Signature Seasoned Malt Vinegar.
Finished with a slice of Serrano ham, it makes for the perfect breakfast, brunch, or light lunch. Give it a go...
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp Sarson’s Signature Seasoned Malt Vinegar
- 1 -2 large ripe tomato on the vine
- 1 clove of garlic
- 2 slices of rustic sliced bread
- c. 6 slices of ham, ideally Serrano
- Extra virgin olive oil, to finish
- Salt and pepper, to season
Method
- Toast the bread on the grill until charred then rub the toasted bread with the garlic.
- Grate the tomato on a box grater. Pour the tomato into a sieve and leave to drain (don’t push through).
- Spoon the tomato on the bread. Drizzle with olive oil, season with salt and pepper, splashed with Sarson’s Signature Seasoned Malt Vinegar.
- Top with the ham and splash on more Sarson’s. Enjoy!
